"Humans and mutants are not a different species, they are just two branches of the same tree. Much like Homo Sapiens and their Neanderthal ancestors lived in peace for thousands of years before, I don't see why we cannot coexist now."
He leans back in his chair, wishing he could tell these people he was a mutant as well, but that would likely put his school in danger, and he couldn't have that. Not yet.
"In fact, I see no reason for the two groups to try. We may even learn something about ourselves in the process," he smiles for the camera, though he knows others will try to spin his words.

Trask sighed... deeply. "While nice it sounds. What's to say mutants want to work with humans? Remember, Homosapien and Neanderthals have been broken into two. We believe, the Neanderthals were even killed off by Homosapiens, for the fact of their evolutionary differences. The one race taking the other out. Do you believe, that this is not the same case with mutants and humans?"
Funny, Norman smiled looking to Trask. "I'm not the least bit surprised you know that much on neanderthalism, Mr. Trask."
Trask got the hint. A glare, and he just snarls, "Bah, you two.... listen, it's sweet to dream. Yet the world isn't made of dreams. It's made of real, honest truths. The truth is mutants and humans, are too different. Eventually mutants will think that with their powers they have the right to define law, and politics. With those in effect, what happens to normal people? What if we are the minority? We don't even know. Mutants amass on the streets, for all we can say."
Kelly, at this adds in, "Which, is why we need the registration acts. Mutants are like men and women, with guns. Think of the devastation however a mutant can cause. While in comparison to someone with a gun. The power to create hurricanes, typhoons and tornadoes. This is why a registration of mutants would help the cause of understanding, and confirming ways to handle mutations."
Norman, tried not to jump into it too fast. He looked to Xavier. He needed him to show some backbone too. After all, if he was the only aggressor, it would make it seem anyone whom 'was for mutant/human society' weak. Norman however looked onto Xavier telling him, that he needed him to try and fend his beliefs as well.

"Actually Mr. Trask your reports on the Neanderthal's are all based on conjecture and guesses. There is no proof one way or another that one side wiped out the other," states Xavier, rather matter of fact. He was a teacher, and he'd be damned if someone went around spreading false stories or misused the facts to further their own goals, "And Senator, your claim that mutants will only use their powers for personal gain is also absurd. Yet, if you're so afraid of them, why don't we set up schools for mutants? Ones where they can learn about themselves and their abilities. Where they can grow as people and learn acceptance? Looking back through history, registration acts like the one you propose only lead to one thing, internment."

"Schools... for mutants?" Kelly himself was disgusted. It's all over his face. "Xavier, please. You do understand what that means right? Mutants conspiring, gathering for their own wants. Their own needs. The growth of a superiority complex for their own. If mutants have this, they will only form a stronger bond for the eventual battle against humanity. Registration does not mean internment, or enslavement. It's a general need to know the dangers around us. Mutants can't be ignored only because they have this, issue of personal rights. If a mutant were here, you'd not be so smug about your belief..." Trask, at this point was being spoken to by a woman. A smirk and he stood up. "You know what Senator Kelly? I think we should show the folks and Mr. Xavier a little something." Turning to the door. In walked a mechanical being. IT was a Sentinel, but it's smaller. It's the size of a human being. "Meet the Sentinel MK-II-G." The strange ground Sentinel stood there looking back and forth. Trask stood next to it. "Perhaps the neanderthal and man did not have it out... but this time, when it comes down to it. We have this. Sentinel. Which I'm proud to say this Sentinel is the first, and sadly only one with the capability of scanning for the M-Gene, which it's still in testing... but we're working diligently to improve this technology." Kelly smirked... really? "Well then.... why not have it scan?" "Huh?" Trask blinked. Then he turned to the others. "But... I don't know, the scanners are not yet tested. It can go off for a number of reasons. Still going by physiology, like sparatic heartbeats and so forth. Until we find the M-gene it is yet not trustworthy." Trask was however glared on and Kelly stood. "How do you work it?" "Wh-what?" He blinked, "You just give it an order and..." "Sentinel!" The machine turned its head to Senator Kelly. "Scan the room. Find us a mutant." It, in response turned to the furthest wall and scanned with its eyes. Smirking, Senator Kelly crossed his arms and stood there. "Let's show you how easily, one turns to fear when the menace is in the same room as you, professor." The machine slowly made its scan across the room. Everyone, watching with intrigue, suspense. Yet surely those that are mutants were not the least bit impressed. Norman looked at the stranger with the glasses. He himself, was perhaps the one most at risk. A frown and he knew if they found a mutant working for Charles, he'd most likely be accused of one himself. So he stood and yelled, "This is ludicrous! This is worse than the inquisition. So what, if it finds someone's a mutant? You're going to lock them up?" He snarled, "I'm done here.... Come on Mr. Xavier, this entire fiasco has finally risen enough of my hairs on end." Leaving, on his account made him look guilty. In fact, Kelly even asks, "Well, is it my number one competitor that has an issue with this? Are you, in fact.... a mutant?"

"Mr. Kelly, sit down now," says Xavier, his voice not raising a decibel, but the annoyance and anger is clear, "this is a ridiculous charade you present to everyone here tonight," if he could stand on his own, Xavier would have, obviously very angered at Senator Kelly's little show, "as Mr. Trask said, this would prove nothing, as the technology is not yet proven. And to be honest, I think that your arrogance and perceived superiority to mutants as well as humans makes you no better than the so called 'monsters' you see the mutant community as."
Xavier is practically seething at this point, "If there were a mutant in this room, I would not be afraid of them or their abilities. I like to see the possible good in people, and that includes mutants."
The entire time he never raised his voice, but his intent was clear, this interview was over.
"Scott, I would like to head back to the school now," he says, turning his chair around, "and leave these fools to their crusade of arrogance."

"Yes Professor." Scott begins wheeling the professor out of the place. He was on edge himself. It was hard to stay quiet at the end of that, and even harder not to blast that thing away.

"Don't you dare! Let's just see what it finds!" Kelly was sure, there is a mutant in the building... maybe, hell if not...
"Shove it Kelly. You've pushed enough buttons for one day."
As they ready to leave. There was a shock.
"Mutant Detected."
Norman looked back from Scott slowly. Yet what was the shock? It's not Scott it's stopped scanning at. Instead, it was the female newscaster.
"What..." Trask raised a brow. Her...?
She stood up shaking, badly. "I... I'm not a mutant. I mean, why the hell would... I be here, if I were a mutant?"
There was no real, response. Hell, no one would see it. She's gorgeous. She's popular. Even Trask frowned a bit. "You just can't tell sometimes..."
Suddenly, the Sentinel started marching forward. Trask looked up to this. "Surrender, or be incarcerated." Easily enough, Trask reached around in his coat. "You have five seconds to comply." Standing infront of the woman. She backed to the wall shaking her head crying, tears in her eyes. Her life was ruined. Everything, she was is gone.
"GET AWAY YOU FUCKING MONSTER!"
"Four seconds.... Three seconds.... Two seconds....."
"TRASK! Turn it off!"
"I-I don't have the remote, it's just going to capture her. Concussive weaponry is all they are allowed to use in conflict. It's perfectly sa-."
The anchor suddenly screamed, and her voice echoed, and echoed into a higher scream. The Sentinel was bit by a full force of this strange sonic scream. Thrown back on the floor as her provoked attack came. Suddenly shaking worse after everyone looked at her after the attack. This, was unbelievable...
"St-stop... stop looking at me..." She held herself like she's cold. Yet really, it was all fear. "I, I'm just a person. I'm, I'm just..."

"Do not worry, everything will be alright Ms. O'Mahl," says the Professor, reaching out slightly with his mind to calm her nerves. He'd rather not do this, but the last thing they needed was for an all out battle to break out on national television, and spark a scene. A scene that could possibly put his student's lives in danger.

The woman looked to Charles. It hit her, for she heard his voice. Then she heard the one in her head. Her tears fell slowly as she just said, "I-I never wanted to hurt anyone..."
Suddenly, rapid fire. There is a scene to behold as the woman's form fell back, spasming and then lay fast on the floor. There she lay a twitching whilst seeping across the floor a small red mix. Everyone whom saw it that was not aware, gasp or fell in retreat.
Kelly? He stood shocked. He stood bewildered. Slowly following the pattern of the bullets that had riddled a woman. To the smoking chain like gun extended from a metallic arm. The Sentinel stood from its kneel and the gun retracts into the arm again.
"Mutant Threat Terminated."
It rung in the ears of Kelly. The threat, terminated? His heard pounding so hard his mind can't stop it. He reached for the desk but it's not there, so he stumbled toward it. A man once so poise and able to talk up hours of reasons to register mutants. He just, suddenly... caused one's death. By making it scan for her. To then kill her...
Trask, flipped a remote and the Sentinel shut down. Screaming, all his anger as the 'mutant' must have damaged him. Caused a circuit to jar loose. It's a prototype. That's the only reason it would do this, they were programmed to never use lethal force until told otherwise. For it to do so... without proper reason.
Kelly didn't catch any of that. He just fell back on his bottom and slumped there. Once able to hate mutants, seeing one killed just... it somehow was very different.
"What have I done..." he whispers. It was the first time he saw one face to face, and then for that same face as he looked at it. Looking back at him. It was more than he ever expected.
Trask and his men wheeled out the Sentinel. He called someone, "Sebastian.... I've got bad news. It's a no-go on the media thing." Listening, he sighed deeply. "I know, I was hoping this would be a good PR move. Just, it seems my Sentinel found a mutant, and the dumb thing messed it up. She used some kind of, shriek... whatever." Shaking his head, he snapped, "I should have known it could happen. Lord, we're luck she couldn't suck out our brains or whatever, am I right?"
Norman stood there looking just as coldly as ever. His stare followed everyone. Following as Trask explained something on the newscast. He then closed his eyes and shook his head. "I feel sick."
He didn't, but he needed to sound like it. Personally, he was ecstatic. To see this much on the news would be a hoot. Although, he was getting a small feeling that's not how it would go. There's too much... bad publicity, for the government.
"I'm not even sure where to begin!" Trask laughed. "I mean, the whole thing needs to be dropped... especially the last half.... we'll put a news bulletin or something, cover it up... pay the right people, same thing as usual..." Shaking his head, "And no, I haven't found the Morlocks... but I'm telling you, that's where we'll make our mark. "Sentinels: Capture Mutant Underdwellers", it'll be the top story for months.... you hear me? Top story."
Norman now just looked at Charles. He, had the most conflicting look... silently stewing as he watched it. Lord can only tell what he's thinking. After this entire, horrid mess. Now as paramedics, cover the body. Begin cleaning it up. A woman died. Yet, because she IS a mutant, and that she did 'attack' first. There will be no report about it. It will only be rumors...
Norman asks, just absently, "Is.... this the world we live in?"
Truly he believed it. Yet what did Charles believe? He, was a strange man. The moment he laid eyes on him. He believed in the good of people. Yet what did he believe now? Seeing one woman die pointlessly. A man, falter in his conviction for causing it. Then one spinning it on the telephone and working to make it never happen.
What did Xavier believe in a world he'd soon have to try and raise children into?

Xavier put his head in his hands, covering his face as the Sentinel murdered the poor woman, and Trask didn't seem to feel a thing. That was the worst part of it all...
"Now you know what hatred does Senator," he says to Kelly, leveling his gaze after a moment, "you can stop this you know. You have the power to get this shown to everyone. Prevent the cover up Mr. Trask seems to be planning."
He wheels closer, placing a hand on Kelly's shoulder, "Please, help mutantkind, don't let this happen again."

Kelly did not know what to say. In truth, it was more than he was ready for.
Just then Trask frowned a bit. "I see... so you will be pulling funding?" This, was when he rubbed his forehead. "Yes sir, I understand. I'll restrict to research and not production... yes, thank you sir."
Hanging up the phone. He grumbled. "Great, I just got put back into research again. I was so close to producing Sentinels for full testing..." Looking to Kelly. He sighed but didn't pay him mind. He had important work to do. "Forget them Kelly. It's a lost cause today anyway."
Indeed for him it was. Much his former fire got snuffed out. Standing up he did not look Charles in the face. Instead, he just told him. "I can't Mr. Xavier. I just can't let this be in the media. I'm sorry."
After that, he too left. There's nothing much one can do here. Norman as well shook his head. "I'm going to have to pull a lot of strings... I suggest you stay low Professor. This entire mess, can just as easily bite any one in the back." Walking off he grabbed his coat. It will be an all but unusual matter to come. Who knows what will be the result of this 'news'.

"Then I am sorry Senator Kelly," says Xavier, turning away.
"Thank you Mr. Osborne, I hope we can one day meet again under better circumstances. Scott, I think it's time to go," he says, indicating to Cyclops.
