Name: Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Hetro
Side: Good
Affiliation: X-Student
Description:
Personality: While Kitty isn't perfect, she's very well-adjusted. Most of the time she's cheerfully gregarious, getting along with just about anyone that crosses her path. Her bad and unhappy days are the exception, not the rule. Sometimes she feels awkward and strange and stupid about normal social stuff but…mostly not. Mostly those kinds of things don't bother her at all.
One of the things she's absolutely certain and confident about is her intelligence. Kitty knows she smart – not in the way one might say "Not only is she pretty but she knows she pretty" but in the way her eyes are brown or the sky is blue. It is. She didn't do much to get her intelligence, but she takes great pleasure it feeding its voracious appetite. Though she doesn't think about it this way, her confidence in her intelligence often lends itself to other things. Once Kitty knows she has something down, whether it be a computer program, a mathematical equation, the rules of lacrosse, or the right way to waltz, Kitty is absolutely sure of herself in that area.
On the other hand Kitty's temperament can be, well, temperamental. Because she knows how things are supposed to go/work, she wants them to go/work that way all the time. Patience is not always her virtue. She is her own worst critic, as apt to flare up at herself as anyone else. On the bright side, however, Kitty also isn't one to sulk or walk around in a bad mood all day. Like a match she flares up and dies down quickly – often with renewed purpose when it's her own dilemma she's frustrated with. Realizing this about herself, Kitty is quick to ask forgiveness when she feels like she's done something wrong or just been plain old mean.
History: Kitty powers first manifested when she was fifteen. She woke up one night after having a nightmare, and to her parents shock she had fallen through the floor of her bedroom to the basement, leaving her sheets sticking out of the ceiling. The next day she went to school where two girls who usually picked on her (because was considered to be a little nerdy) shoved her in her locker, causing her to use her power and accidently out herself to a fellow mutant.
The mutant wanted to use Kitty's powers to steal test results. He tried to talk Kitty into helping him by showing her his powers. Kitty ran off in fear." When Kitty went to her next lesson, her teacher scolded her for being late, for which she apologized.
She met Jean who she mistook for being a friend of one of the bullies. Jean demonstrated her abbilities but Kitty ran off scared by what she was becoming. The mutant eventually talked her into helping him, claiming that he was teaching her about taking control. When she inadvertantly helped him steal the quiz answers, he threatened her. Luckily, with her family's support, she escaped the building unharmed after the mutant created an earthquake that destroyed the school. She left to join Xavier's school.
Abilities: Kitty Pryde is a mutant with the ability to “phase” through solid matter by shifting her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she is moving. Kitty can phase her clothing along with herself, and through practice has learned to phase other objects and people without harm to them. For all intents and purposes, Kitty is intangible whilst phasing, however she is still vulnerable to psionic or mystical attacks. Certain forms of energy can also disrupt her phased state.
When Kitty phases through an object with an electrical system, the process disrupts the system's workings. This includes the electrical impulses found in the human brain. Kitty can phase part or all of her body through another living being without harm to herself, though the other being can be rendered unconscious as a result. Kitty also has the potential to kill another being by phasing them into a solid object and then releasing them, causing them to solidify whilst still within the object. Kitty has trained herself to reflexively assume a phased state at any indication of danger, such as a loud noise like a gunshot, in order to protect herself.
